Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Steamed rice and vegetables for serving

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  • Reduce heat and let the sauce thicken for about 5-7 minutes.
  • While the sauce thickens, preheat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  • Place the salmon skin-side down in the skillet.
  • Cook for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  • Flip the salmon and brush with the teriyaki sauce.
  • Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, basting with sauce.
  • Once cooked through, remove from heat and let rest for a couple of minutes.
