Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Arrange tortilla chips in a single layer on a large baking sheet.
Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese evenly over the chips.
Add the cooked ground beef or chicken evenly across the chips.
Scatter black beans over the meat.
Pour salsa generously over the entire layer.
Add the remaining cheese on top of the salsa.
Scatter jalapeño slices for added heat.
Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven, and top with sour cream, diced avocado, and cilantro.
